Triethylene glycol (TEG) serves as a plasticizer for vinyl polymers, enhancing flexibility. It acts as an aerosol disinfectant in air sanitizers and aids in natural gas dehydration and air conditioning. TEG is also used in hydraulic fluids, brake fluids, and “smoke machine” fluid for entertainment.

Triethylene glycol is used in inks as a solvent to control viscosity and improve drying properties.
Antifreeze
Monoethylene glycol is used in antifreeze as a coolant to prevent freezing and overheating in vehicle engines.
